Mark's Story
(Last Updated: End of 2011)
From an early age, Mark always displayed a
true love for the art of acting. Throughout both elementary and secondary
school he partook in various school-based plays, often portraying the lead
role. Some of his early work included the role of 'Grandpa' in You
Can't Take It With You, and 'The Man' in Morris Panych's 7 Stories.
Along with his theatre-based work Mark has also dedicated a large portion of
his time towards the further training and development of his craft.
2007
In August of 2007, Mark attended the IMTA
(International Model & Talent Association) Convention in New York
City. At the convention, Mark performed a variety of pieces -including a
monologue written and prepared by himself. His hard work was rewarded as Mark
received not only a top ten finish in the monologue competition but also
received a scholarship to the New York Conservatory's 'Summer in the City'
program.
2008
In July of
2008, Mark utilized that scholarship and attended the New York Conservatory.
At the school, Mark received hands-on training in numerous fields, including
-improvisation, film & television, stage combat, and much more. Mark
feels that the skills and opportunities he received at the school
have greatly helped him to fully harness all of his acting-based
capabilities.
Since returning from New York, Mark has continued to work at the various
elements of his craft. In September of 2008, he was cast in a supporting role
in a music video by the Canadian Indie band The Dears, entitled Money Babies. A
link to this video is posted under the 'Video' tab of this website.
2009
2009, was a
very busy year for Mark, as he spent the majority of it engrained in the
independent and student production world. Over the course of the year, Mark
managed to play a role in: 1
Independent Feature, 5 Short

In addition to
these roles, Mark also dedicates a large portion of his time to the writing of
feature film screenplays. Over the course of 2009, Mark managed to complete two
feature-length scripts, both of which he will bring into fruition in the near
future.
2010
In January of
2010, Mark officially completed his third feature-length script -a non-linear
dramatic comedy. In March, Mark ventured out to Hollywood and Los Angeles,
California for three weeks to get a feel for the city at the heart of the
entertainment industry. In his time there, Mark was able to audition for
two independent productions, and was cast in both -but was unfortunately unable
to take part due to time and citizenship issues.
In addition to this, Mark also managed to play a role in: 1 Independent Feature, 3 Short
Films, 1 TV Series Pilot, 1 TV Series Episode, and 1 music video in 2010. This year also
marked the beginning of Mark's directorial aspirations, as he managed to direct
or co-direct 2 short films and 1 feature
length documentary -all of which are available for viewing under the Beam Beam
Pictures tab.
2011
In March of
2011 Mark was offered the opportunity to once again work under the direction of
Anton Josef -who previously directed Mark in 2008 in the music video for Money
Babies. The pair worked together on another music video, this time for the band
Crash Karma's smash hit On My Own, in which Mark played the videos lead.
